Where it all began...
In October of 1950, Frank Tallman, Mel Schlesinger and the girls (Janey, Kala & Clare) waited anxiously for a crate to come down the cargo ramp at the old Kansas City airport. Jane waited at home, readying the house once again for puppies. When the crate was opened, Mel commented to Frank that they looked like “bad Weims”…Sari cautiously peeked out, sniffed the girls and immediately became mama again to 3 more human puppies. Sari’s pups followed to meet the girls and it was bedlam after that with camera’s flashing and girls giggling, while Mel and Frank both wondered what Frank had gotten himself into…
